Scenes From Trees' Sixth Anniversary With Body Count.
Over the weekend, Trees celebrated its sixth anniversary. Well, its current iteration, after it rose from the ashes as Dallas music venues are wont to do.
To mark the occaision, Ice-T's rap metal project, Body Count, headlined the festivities. This is an interesting spectacle. He walks into the venue with his bombshell of a wife, Coco, and it all looks like something better suited for paparazzo traps out in L.A. We aren't used to that sort of fanfare in out here in Texas. Then he hits the stage and melts faces along with his bandmates. Cognitive dissonance, folks.
Also on the bill: Denver's The News Can Wait, plus Dallas' Downlo and Mad Mexicans. It was night of metal and burly dudes in bandannas. To wit: The co-owner of Trees, Clint Barlow actually played drums with his band, Downlo. What a way to usher in six years. Also? It takes some commendable reserve to resist putting your band at the end of the night — Ice-T be damned.
Fortunately, our own Karlo X. Ramos on hand to snap some photos, which you can catch below.
