On Oscar Nominations, Star Wars Casting and Panhandler-Shaming Twitter.
If you're a listener of KTCK 1310-AM or 96.7-FM, you probably feel like you already know TC Fleming and Jake Kemp well. And if you're not a listener of The Ticket? Well, whatever. You're about to get real familiar with these two just the same through their own channel of this podcast called It's Just Banter. Wanna hear past episodes? You can check out IJB's archives here and on our Soundcloud page. Wanna subscribe to the podcast on iTunes? Do so here.
Hey, one of our listeners made a new opening to the show! Naturally, we listen to that to kick things off, which leads Jake to pledge his strong support for Alec Baldwin's “tough love” brand of parenting.
Is it a weird opening salvo? Yes! But it's the one he went with just the same.
From there, we embrace the fact that this is the rare time of the year when Jake watches movies. So far, he's made it through The Revenant and The Big Short, so we discuss those some here.
While we're talking movies, we also wonder if people will ever have no reaction to when Star Wars casts people who aren’t white males in lead roles. I think accurate-to-life casting is actually a pretty big deal, so I try to make my case for that here.
From there, we dive into something I've recently become exposed to: Panhandler Shaming Twitter. It's a weird world, and I try to shed some light on that fact here.
Lastly, we wrap up with Jake reminiscing about the risque stuff they showed on cable in the early aughts. Contact him if you remember the show Tens!
