Our Inaugural Central Track Music Honors Culminates In A Big Bash At The Granada Tonight. Here’s All You Need to Know About The Nominees, Performers and Party.
In case you’ve somehow missed the past few months of our near-daily posting about it, this is your one last reminder that our first-ever Central Track Music Honors event is tonight at the Granada Theater.
Here’s everything you could possible ever need or want to know about the honors themselves, and tonight’s party/awards ceremony.
What are the CT Music Honors?
It’s a new kind of North Texas music awards, one that favors “celebration over competition, hypes inclusivity over exclusivity and spreads love to all corners of the Dallas music scene by praising not just the efforts of the year’s top performers, but also the photographers, videographers and other behind-the-scenes workers who contribute to their impressive efforts.” Specifically, we’ve nominated nearly 300 separate entities in 51 different categories, leaving the voting up to their respective fans. The winners have been tallied, and will be announced in conjunction with tonight’s event.
What’s happening at tonight’s event?
Adopting a less-talk, more-rock attitude, the CTMH’s will feature a dozen nominated acts performing rapid-fire, 15-minute sets on two stages inside the Granada. The music will never stop – not even for the handing out of awards or the giving of acceptance speeches. All that will take place in the lobby. Speaking of the show: Here’s a detailed primer on each of the acts playing our bill. They run the gamut genre-wise, but all are worthy of your time. Check out some samples of their work at the above link. Doors open at 7. Music starts at 8 and will end around 11.
How can you attend?
The event is free, but there’s a greater than zero chance it’ll hit capacity at some point. But you can guarantee your way in by buying a $5 ticket, which also gets you a free Corona Extra or Corona Premier once inside. So, really, it’s just like pre-buying your first beer.
Is there an after-party?
Of course! That’ll take place next door at Sundown starting at 11 p.m., and last until closing time. More details on that aspect can be found here.
Who are the nominees?
We didn’t break down all 300 of them. But over the past few weeks, we did tackle nine of the more prestigious categories and write features on each of the seven acts nominated therein. Additionally, we wrote a longer piece about our Honor Roll – think of it as like our version of a local music hall of fame – and this year’s initial inductees, which we also preemptively removed from contention in the other 51 categories. All of that can be found within the links below.
