Scenes From The Polyphonic Spree's Tenth Annual Holiday Extravaganza.
Every city has its annual traditions come Christmastime, and, in that regard, Dallas is no different.
Except that, well, it is.
For the past decade, Dallas has graced each year with a holiday-themed performance from hometown heroes The Polyphonic Spree. And, for the past decade, Dallas has had that leg up over everywhere else.
But that changed this year. With the Spree releasing an album of holiday songs called Holidaydream, the band took its show on the road in 2012 — and even to The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
Still, the band clearly seemed to save its best effort — or at least its most heartfelt sentiments — for its last show on the tour, which took place back home in Dallas on Saturday evening at the Lakewood Theater.
Wrote Spree cellist Buffi Jacobs to her band's fans in a heartfelt Facebook status update on her wall on Sunday morning in the wake of Saturday's show: “You can not know how much your love and support mean to all of us. It is such an amazing reward to look around the room and see all of you with smiles on your faces and love in your hearts. All that positive energy will stay with me forever! Thank you for making that happen. May you all have a safe and happy holiday season.”
Ah. So this is Christmas.
