Menomena, PVT and Team Tomb helped The Granada Theater Ring In Its Eighth Birthday Last Night.

Clearly, the Granada Theater has a lot of friends.

Quite a few of them came out last night to celebrate the venue's eighth anniversary, too, as the theater played host to yet another attentive audience that showed up to witness a night of performances from Team Tomb, PVT and Menomena.

Kicking the night off was the smooth subdued sounds of Denton's Team Tomb, who were on hand to perform cuts from their newly released self-titled album. Their sound gelled great with the crowd, and good thing, too.

The night was young when the band started their set, but Team Tomb's set capably drew the outside cigarette smokers into the performance space. It was a real treat, too, and their offering set the table nicely for the London-based PVT, who followed.

Mixing singing, loops and live effects to his vocals PVT's set was indeed one to remember.

But, even so, Menomena's headlining set blew those earlier offerings away. With five musicians spread out across the stage and bearing a mixture of digital and analog instruments, the band was welcomed with open arms. The crowd, it's safe to say, was pumped for their arrival, singing basically every word back to the band as if they wrote the words along side them.

And they loved core member Justin Harris' saxophone performances especially, going wild whenever he stepped back from his mic to use the large alto saxophone strapped around his shoulder.

It was a fun night, for sure. And, yes, a memorable one.

That's more than I can say about my own eighth birthday party, at least. I can't even remember if I had one.
