Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears Join the Homegrown Fest Lineup.
Ten days ago, the lineup of confirmed acts for the 2012 edition of the annual Homegrown Music & Arts Festival swelled from four to eight confirmed acts, and impressively: The bill, already featuring a nice collection of Austin-bred talents such as Ume and The Octopus Project and San Antonio's Girl in a Coma, was infused with a little Houstonian flavor courtesy of Hayes Carll and Robert Ellis — all on top of North Texas grown stalwarts Centro-matic and area up-and-comers Mystery Skulls and Low Dark Hills.
And, today, organizers return to our state capital for a little love. The latest round of four additions to the Homegrown Fest is capped by revered soul outfit Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears, who feel like they've been around forever until you remember that their breakthrough, self-titled EP wasn't released until 2009.
Also joining Black Joe and the gang on the bill in this announce round are their fellow Austinites and party-starers The Bright Light Social Hour, Dallas hip-hop duo The Mohicans and KTCK 1310-AM The Ticket's Own The Bird Dogs, who feature morning show “Dunham & Miller” co-host George Dunham on lead vocals.
This latest round ups this year's list of total announced performers to 12, although a final number somewhere in the vicinity of 16 can be expected to be revealed in the coming weeks, with organizers promising at least one more “headliner” to be revealed at that time.
