Scenes From The Sixth Annual Dallas Burlesque Festival.

Once every year, the city lets her hair down, slips into some high heels and throws a ruby red feather boa around its neck to welcome some of the best burlesque performers and entertainers from all across the country to its stages.

Now in its sixth year, the Dallas Burlesque Festival is a three-night affair that includes live performances at the House of Blues, as well as burlesque workshops during the day at the Ruby Room studio that also serves as the home of local burlesque troupe the Ruby Revue.

And this year's affair truly marveled, as each performer offered up her own unique style. Be that aesthetic classic burlesque, neo-burlesque or even nerd burlesque, the one shining attribute each performer shared was a dedication to precision and diligence. Whether these performers were dancing, performing magic, show-hosting, doing stand-up, singing or just simply taking their clothes off in a way that made crowds' jaws drop and eyes pop like in a Tex Avery cartoon, their sets awed.

Yes, the festival's “Keep Dallas Sexy” mission statement was achieved, thanks in no small part to such revered performers as Blaze: The Red Rose of Texas, Perle Noire from New York and fresh from her show in Las Vegas and 2011 Playboy Playmate of the Year Claire Sinclair.
