The Richardson Heights Alamo Drafthouse Will Open on August 16.
If it feels like we’ve been waiting well over a year for the first planned Alamo Drafthouse location in North Texas to open, it’s because, well, we very much have.
But today brings some news on that seemingly dormant front: A press release sent out this afternoon by the folks behind the adored boutique theater chain finally announces a formal opening date for the Richardson Heights location. The seven-theater space, which will be able to hold, in total, some 820 moviegoers at any given time, will formally open on Friday, August 16.
Turns out, though, that the theater will also be hosting other events in the interim before its doors are officially open — there will be various “soft opening” events at the space in the week leading u to that grand opening date, and, throughout July, the theater will be hosting free outdoor film screenings to help build the anticipation for that big moment.
You can check out the films coming to that July series (and their screening dates) below, but in the meantime, feel free to breath a sigh of relief over the fact that the Drafthouse will be open later this summer.
Richardson Heights Alamo Drafthouse Outdoor Screening Series:
• July 13: DAZED AND CONFUSED
• July 20: THE LOST BOYS
• July 27: THE GOONIES
