Central Market Will, In Fact, Carry Whataburger Condiments.
When the higher-ups at Whataburger announced earlier this week at their biannual franchisee convention that their company will be partnering with the H-E-B grocery chain to start selling bottled versions of the fast food company's much-adored fancy ketchup, spicy ketchup and original mustard condiments, people freaked the fuck out.
In a good way, of course.
Texans love Whataburger. And certain Texans really like H-E-B.
One problem, though: Unless you stretch the definition of North Texas some to include Waxahachie and Burleson, there really aren't any H-E-B locations in the region. And though there are a solid five locations of H-E-B's higher-end Central Market stores throughout North Texas — two in Dallas, one in Fort Worth, one in Plano and one in Southlake — the Whataburger announcement on the partnership made no mention of any Central Market deal, just the H-E-B one.
So, the obvious question at hand, then: Will Central Market carry the Whataburger condiments, too? We'd seen some conflicting reports on the matter, so we just decided to check with the folks at Central Market and outright ask: Um, we also getting these Whataburger condiments up in Dallas, or what?
Just now, Central Market publicist Teresa Buckley hit us back with an answer in the positive: “We will carry the Whataburger condiments at Central Market,” she says.
Oh, and one better: We also got a kinda-firm date from Buckley on when the condiments — previously announced as “coming this summer” — will finally hit area shelves.
“They will be at our stores in late May,” she says.
Boom? Boom.
Update on 5/14: Via Instagram, Whataburger now reports that their ketchups will be available for grocery store purchase on May 25 — just in time for Memorial Day weekend, natch.
