Grimes, Cold War Kids, Washed Out, Portugal. The Man, More To Play October Fest in Deep Ellum.
For a few weeks now, Trees' event calendar has been featuring a Friday, October 5, tour stop from super-buzzing electro-popper Grimes, along with opening acts Elite Gymnastics and Myths. Considering Grimes' popularity at the moment, that booking's a strong get for the Deep Ellum venue.
But it's also only the tip of an iceberg.
Central Track has learned that Grimes' scheduled performance at Trees is actually part of a larger, two-day festival coming to town that will be fully announced — with a press release and everything! — at some point tomorrow.
The Spune Productions-backed festival, called Index, will also feature heavy hitters Portugal. The Man, Cold War Kids, Washed Out, Heartless Bastards. Locals Air Review and Telegraph Canyon will also appear on the bill, as will San Antonio rockers Hacienda.
Expect many more acts to be announced in the coming weeks, too: The festival, which will boast three stages (in addition to Trees' main stage, two more will be erected in parking lots outside of the venue), is set to feature some 28 bands over the course of October 5 and October 6.
Ticket information on the event should be available at some point tomorrow. We'll update this post accordingly when that news comes.
