KXT Books Flaming Lips, St. Vincent, Fitz & The Tantrums and Others For Inaugural Fest.
Minutes ago, during its annual pledge drive, local KERA-owned music-focused radio station KXT 91.7 FM dropped something of a bomb: This summer, the almost two-and-a-half-year-old station — no stranger to criticism and, of late, some surprising praise — will throw its first-ever music festival, called the KXT Summer Cut, on June 1 at Gexa Energy Pavilion.
And it's kind of a big deal. The confirmed lineup to date? Oh, just The Flaming Lips, St. Vincent, Fitz & The Tantrums and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, plus Telegraph Canyon, Air Review, Smile Smile, Quite Corral, Walk Off The Earth and DJ Matt Stafford.
Tickets go on sale on Saturday at noon, but being that it's pledge drive season and all, there are ways around that — like the offer on KXT's site right now that offers an advance-sale ticket, a poster and a KXT t-shirt for a $100 pledge. So, y'know, step to it.
