The 35 Denton Edition!
Welcome to Download This, our weekly collection of the hottest tunes from around the country and beyond. Though we promise to try to keep things fresh and varied, expect mainly indie rock, electro and as much nu-disco as possible in this space. In other words: If it's awesome, you'll find it here. Download the tracks in a .zip file at the bottom of the page, and, if you like what you hear, be sure to check out the individual artists' websites to, y'know, buy the rest of their work!
With the big day launch day for the festival fast approaching, this week's Download This! has a 35 Denton theme. That little gem of a music city has some pretty exciting national acts passing through this weekend, so you might as well preview some of them right here.
“Te Amo” — Atlas Sound
The output of Atlas Sound, Bradford Cox's solo project, is considerably more whimsical than that his band, Deerhunter.
“Boyfriend (Lindstrom Remix)” — Best Coast
I assume by now you've all heard Best Coast — for awhile there it was impossible to enter an Urban Outfitters without being lambasted by her debut album. But have you heard this remix by Norwegian disco master Lindstrom?
“All the Saints” — Class Actress
Class Actress' '80s-influenced pop is sure to garner some hipster head-bobbing this Friday night. If Elizabeth Harper is lucky, they might even dance, too.
“Pretty Eyes (Feat. John Vanderslice)” — Dream Brother
John Vanderslice has had a long career with high critical acclaim but not much mainstream success. That's fine by me. He can be our little secret.
“Hammock” — MillionYoung
Try to listen to this song without getting the urge to immediately book a ticket to the Bahamas.
“Damn These Vampires” — The Mountain Goats
The Mountain Goat's lyric-centric folk can soundtrack the gloomiest or happiest of days with equal ease. Their outdoor 35 Denton set on Friday night is should probably get a few lighters waving.
