Exclusive Premiere: Brandy's “I Wanna Be Down” Gets The Booty Fade Treatment.
Turns out inspiration, unlike lightning, can indeed strike in the same place twice. Or, well, in close enough to the same place, at least.
Just a week after Dallas ex-pat Luis Dubuc's Mystery Skulls project finally released its long-awaited Forever debut LP for Warner Bros — an album that includes not one but two cuts featuring '90s R&B sensation Brandy — another electronic-inclined, Dallas-based dance outfit has tapped Brandy for a little spark.
This time, it's DJ Sober and Picnictyme's Booty Fade entity that's mining the former Moesha star's vocals for a dance-inducing production.
Here, in a cut that the duo was kind enough to pass Central Track's way as an exclusive premiere, Booty Fade offers up a decidedly guiltless remix update to the rather guilty pleasure that is the singer's 1994 debut single, “I Wanna Be Down,” by speeding things up a bit, ratcheting up the drums some and inserting some familiar house synthesizer lines throughout.
Check it out below. And, in turn, be down with what Booty Fade's going through, which I suppose, is to say a much-needed fresh breath of nostalgia.
