Christeene Taught Dallas A Thing Or Two About Raunchy Last Friday.
The Double Wide, famous for crazy antics and heavy drinking, had things taken up a notch this past Friday.
How so? Well, for starters, the show in the performance room kicked off with the removal of a butt plug.
No, a show from Austin “drag terrorist” Christeene is not for the faint of heart. Performing while backed by her DJ, JJ Booya, Christeene, the brainchild of one Paul Soileau, put on a decidedly NSFW performance in the packed Double Wide space.
And, really, she offered up something for everyone: We were treated with a song for the straight guys, one for the ladies and plenty for the LGBT crowd.
In interviews, Christeene describes her sound as “a sexually infused sewer of live Electro, Dub Step, R&B and unclassifiable stylings of vile shamelessness.”
The live show certainly lives up to that hype. It was an insane mishmash of performance art, R&B, hip-hop and a little bit of confession. Watching it was like watching someone who's completely fallen apart, but has found their happy place at the bottom.
The highlight of the show was probably the song, “Tears From My Pussy.” During this song, Christeene made her way across the stage, serenading her front row of fans with the audience singing along. It was a song full of several terribly tender moments.
And, indeed, Christeene seemed pleased with this first Dallas show of hers, going on several times during her set about how much she appreciated the town and the crowd's warm embrace. After the show, she took to her Twitter to announce that she would be back soon.
We hope she will. The show on Friday was sold out well before the doors to the venue opened. In other words: When she returns to town, you better buy your tickets in advance. It's an experience well worth the effort.
