A Look Back at Friday Night's The Leak Show at the House of Blues.
When Dallas hip-hop comes up in conversation, A.Dd+, Brain Gang, Big Tuck and Tum Tum are usually the names that get thrown around.
But, more and more, a rapidly growing and even deeper underground hip-hop scene is beginning to bubble upwards. And, this past Friday night at the House of Blues's Cambridge Room, The Leak Show aimed to showcase that very truth.
Put together by local rapper and producer -topic, the event showcased local talents ranging from live painters to clothing brand designers and DJs to rappers.
In short: The show was awesome.
There was just such a fun, positive energy vibing through the room, and you could practically tangibly feel the emerging talent begin to leak out of the room and into the Dallas atmosphere.
And, at his own event, -topic's set indeed proved the highlight of the night. And not just because he began his offering with standing a frontflip, either. The young rapper is just a talented showman, and Within 10 minutes of launching his performance, the entire room was dancing to his grimier cuts.
By the end of the night, it was clear: There is definitely something happening within this scene. Everyone at The Leak Show may have already knew that much heading in, but, nonetheless, the night made for a great sneak peek.
