This Week, Dallas Faced Its Most Difficult Rose Ceremony Yet.
Welcome to D-Rated, our weekly feature that tries to determine if things are looking up or down for Dallasites by arbitrarily assigning point values to current events.
Without a Face: GrubHub thinks Dallas is the fifth best city for vegetarian dining. GrubHub must be batshit crazy. But, hey, we'll take it? Plus 5.
Winging It: This week, the Dallas Morning News announced that it had purchased the “hyper-local” Pegasus News site for an undisclosed sum. We can only assume that means Pegasus' owners are receiving three high-fives and a pint of Ben & Jerry's Cherry Garcia ice cream. Push.
West Slide: The year's second West Nile-related death in Dallas County was reported this afternoon. Good news for people looking for an excuse for their pasty skin, bad news for everyone else. Minus 2.
Mall Punk: A naked Dallas man allegedly high on some sort of drugs drove a pickup truck through the doors of the Southwest Center Mall to try and steal some clothes. We'd suggest walking a mile in his shoes before judging his actions, but, like we said, the dude wasn't wearing anything. Minus 2.
Dissed From a Rose: Irving-raised Bachelorette contestant Sean Lowe was recently kicked off the highly rated reality dating competition after making it all the way to becoming one of the final three contestants. He's supposedly heartbroken over the matter, which just serves as more proof that, even if you do well on reality TV, you really don't. Minus 1.
Cross-Eyed Bear: Rangers slugger Josh Hamilton is releasing a supposedly inspirational, Christian-oriented clothing line. Cool? Push.
Yo, That's Righteous: A 17-year-old Dallasite is headed to the yo-yo world championships in Orlando this week. We have trouble actually walking our dog, let alone performing that trick on a yo-yo, so props to him. Plus 1.
Since U Been Gone: Kellly Clarkson's $1.5 million home in Mansfield is on the market. Here's the thing about Clarkson's home: She and it started out friends, and it was cool, but it was all pretend. Yeah, yeah. Minus 1.5.
Love Lost: TSA agents at Dallas' Love Field are under fire this week after reportedly mishandling a woman's feeding tube and then strip-searching her. Hey, if you're gonna get all handsy, at least take her out to dinner and force some food down her tube first! Minus 2.
Last week's total: Minus 1.74.
This week's count: Minus 2.5
This week's running total: Minus 4.24
