You're Ballin', Devin Harris!

Hey, Devin Harris! Welcome Back!

We were super, super excited to hear the news earlier this week about you signing a three-year deal to come back and play for our beloved Mavericks!

Truth is, we've missed you like crazy. Ever since parting ways with you back in 2008, we've been yearning to see your super speedy skills back on the home American Airlines Center floor.

We're sure we're not alone in this thinking, either. We pretty much know for a fact that your good buddy Dirk has a big goofy smile waiting for you upon your arrival, too. And, hey, if we could convince the security guards at the AAC that we're totally cool and normal people — we are, promise — we'd be standing right there beside him, ready to give you a massive hug as soon as you step back into the building you once and will now again call home.

I dunno, man. We just think you're a really cool dude. I mean, it's pretty awesome of you not to hold a grudge against us after we traded you to get Jason Kidd all those years back. Honestly? That's super big of you.

Even bigger? That, according to rumor, you'd been hoping all along to become a Mav once more, too. About a week ago when you said, “Dallas has always been home,” we totally swooned. Then we thought about how you probably smiled that adorable smile of yours when you said it and we swooned some more.

Your smile is crazy impressive by the way. You look like you're about 8 years younger than you actually are when you flash it. Which reminds us: When you get a second, can you show us your fountain of youth? Thanks, dude.

Anyway, remember that Nets game right after you were traded away from us the first time? You put up a whopping 41 points in that game, prompting New Jersey fans to start chanting “Thank you, Cuban” in the stands.

It broke our hearts a little bit, that moment.

Little did we know at the time, of course, that we'd eventually be thanking the same man a few years down the road for getting you back. We just think it's a good signing for you and the team alike.

Sure, Dallas has its drawbacks. Some people don't think we're a great sports town. But anyone who's spent any time here knows that we for sure love our Mavericks.

And, let's face it, Dallas has been good to you. I mean, you were named Rookie of the Year here back in 2004. And, since then, you've only improved, growing into a more assertive, stronger basketball player. We hope you don't mind us saying that we're really proud of your development.

Point is, we just know that you'll fit in just fine back here in the Big D — even if you have changed some over the years. Like, for instance, we hear you apparently own about 400 pairs of shoes now. Look at you, Mr. Stylish! That's just classic Dallas, really. Plus, blue is a really flattering color on you, stud.

You probably get that all the time, though.

Well, here's something you might not get too often: We'd like to buy you a beer or something sometime. Y'know, just to really show our appreciation.

No, it's not quite all the cool stuff that Dwight Howard was promised if he signed here, we know. But, I mean, if you're gonna be making more than $9 million over the next three years and you already own all those shoes, what else could you really want?

Think about it, OK? That's all I ask.

Either way, we can't wait to see you soon. You rule. Thanks for coming back into our lives.

Love,
Jessica and the Central Track Staff.
