Regular observers of the goings-on in the ever-fruitful world of Dallas hip-hop will recognize Cashmir's name. The North Dallas-bred performer's been in the scene for a few years now, collaborating with his Brain Gang mates and, on the solo front, some of the region's finest producers.

It wasn't until just about this time last year, though, when the performer formally introduced himself: That's when he released his debut Wait EP to stand out from the string of singles he'd previously posted online.

Now, however, Cashmir is really getting ready to make himself known. Later this year, the self-described “kinda hipster, kinda hood” emcee will be releasing his first formal full-length effort. And, just last night, he released, “Numbers,” the first single from the new project as a free download (grab it here).

He also released an impressive, Jeff Adair-directed music video to go with it. It's a no-frills clip, to be sure. It's just Cashmir — and, OK, some ladies in some very brief appearances — stalking about a room, and rapping to the camera over a dripping 808Hittzville beat.

And that's all it needs to be.
