Overview. Individually, Crowbar offers indoor rowing on their special Indo Row machines, which provides an authentic rowing experience with an actual water-tank attached. The water provides a much more natural resistance to your body without dialing in any tension, making it all about your own push and pull.
They also offer a unique cycling class using a bike called the Real Ryder, a special bike that's designed to move with you to create the feeling of riding on a real bicycle outdoors. It's hinges allow the whole bike to move back and forth with your body as you ride, making it more of a full body work out.
Crowbar also offers up barre classes (a kind of a Pilates/yoga/ballet mashup) that owners Molly Setnick and Karen Soltero have put their own spin on, too. As you may have gathered, Crowbar's take on barre throws in a bit more cardio in the mix.
Molly and Karen's passion for bringing some new ideas to fitness in Dallas is probably one of the reason's Crowbar Cardio was honored with D Magazine's editors' pick for best fitness program this year.
Says Karen about deciding to open an innovative new gym with her childhood friend, Molly, nearly two years ago: “We wanted to create an environment where 1) it's fun for your body and your brain, and 2) it's the lifestyle of fitness you can keep doing regardless of age.”
Class Structure. One of Molly and Karen's passions is to avoid any possible injury by working at your own pace or resistance while still participating in what's laid out for the class schedule.
“We are both committed to people not hurting themselves when they work out, having something that doesn't hurt your joints, that doesn't hurt your body, and you can do at any age,” Soltero says.
Getting Started. The Indo Row machines — which you may have seen featured on the popular TV show, The Biggest Loser — have a seat specifically designed to displace your weight, creating a low-impact work out for people suffering from joint-problems or obesity. Much like running, rowing is one of the highest calorie-burning exercises — except rowing uses your total body. It's also a great way to dive back into the workout game.
If you're nervous about trying something new, Crowbar offers an introductory unlimited week of classes for just $20. After just a few fun-filled, motivating classes with these positive and outgoing instructors, it will be hard to not come back for more — especially as you see the pounds begin to disappear.

Crowbar Cardio might look like your average neighborhood fitness facility, but once you take a step inside their little gym, the wide variety of workout equipment will surprise you. Located in the heart of Lower Greenville, this boutique fitness studio offers up unique workout classes combining some of our favorites into a one-hour super workout.
Each class has a specific time frame and structure depending on which of their many classes you decide to join in on. Most of their classes consist of a warm-up, stretching to make sure you don't hurt yourself, cardio and finally a bit of muscle building.
If you've been thinking about beginning your journey to better health, more exercise and losing some weight, this is an excellent gym to get your start.
