Scenes From Last Night's The Dwarves And Riverboat Gamblers Show At Three Links.
For decades now, an almost comical brand of self-aggrandizing behavior has been the calling card of Dwarves frontman Blag Dhalia.
And while the band's show last night at Three Links wasn't marred by any of the fights or other shenanigans that took place the last time the band performed at the venue, Dhalia's tongue-in-cheek cockiness was still on full display from the minute his band stepped onstage.
Shortly after taking the stage Dhalia addressed the already-rowdy crowd with “Dallas, you are in the presence of legends here.”
From there, the crowd was his: Fans eagerly sang along to songs from the band's current album and all the way back to material from the earliest reaches of The Dwarves' 20-plus year-old catalog. Credit the fact that the beer was flowing rather freely last night, and that seemingly just as much of it was tossed around as actually consumed.
Oh, and then there's the fact that The Riverboat Gamblers, We Were Wolves and Plissken each put on such high-energy sets leading up to the headliners' set that mayhem just seemed like a sure thing. And, seasoned a crowd-surfer as Dhalia has become in his own lengthy career, the point in the night when Riverboat Gamblers frontman Mike Wiebe crowd-surfed over to the bar, climbed upon it and kept right on singing was definitely a major highlight.
And, lucky for us, photographer Karlo X. Ramos was on hand to capture all the madness.
