Scenes From Friday Night's Say Anything Show at the Granada Theater.
As the more crusty of Dallas punk fans were doing their thing down in Deep Ellum and as the youngest Dallas punk fans were prepping to hit up Gexa Energy Pavilion on Sunday, yet another chance for Dallasites to catch a punk-inclined bill went down at the Granada Theater on Friday night as Say Anything kicked off its latest tour with openers The Front Bottoms, The So So Glos and You Blew It! in tow.
And as with those other offerings, this too proved a varied one: Say Anything, touring in support of its new Hebrews LP, was there for the teenage and twnetysomething, pop-punk throwback set; Brooklyn's The So So Glos brought a more grunge-rocking, basement-show appeal; and fellow openers prior tourmates The Front Bottoms and You Blew It! set the stage nicely with their more angst-filled sets.
It all made for a rather rowdy display. And, unlike at the Warped Tour showcases that would go down later on in the weekend, that kind of behavior seemed welcome at the Granada.
The show was all the better for it, too, as the bands matched their fans' fervor all along the way.
