The Official Central Track Staff List.

By this point, all the big music publications (Rolling Stone, Spin, Stereogum, etc.) have already released their varying takes on the best albums of 2013.

And, much as we may like to think we are, we here at Central Track aren't wholly immune to this type of year-end list making.

So, yeah, we're doing it, too.

Similar to the way in which we tabulate our weekly Buzz Rankings posts, five CT staffers each assembled their own lists of their favorite albums from the past year, and then those lists were weighted and compiled into the single master list you'll find below.

It's not a perfect formula, but it works well enough, we think. And it gives extra weight to the albums that pop up on multiple lists — such as Janelle Monae's The Electric Lady, which was the only disc to show up on all five of our list submissions. It also shows the sheer breadth of out selections, too; though heavy-hitters such as Yeezus show up toward the top of our master list, it's interesting to see that a handful of local releases pop up here, too. Proof that these discs stack up against the rest of the national releases on this list? We think so.

Those of you with Spotify can also listen to these albums — most of them, anyway — in a playlist we've compiled and embedded at the bottom of this post.

We also recommend checking back here often in the coming weeks. We're planning on releasing a different “Best of 2013” post most every day this month, so as to congratulate our favorite Dallas restaurants, trends and people of the year on a job well done.

And don't worry: Just like last year, our top local albums and songs lists will most definitely be included in those story releases.
