Check Out This Awesome Mural In Trinity Groves That Nike Commissioned For The National Championship.
Earlier this week, our curiosities were piqued when the following in-progress mural appeared on our timelines.
On 1.12, @OhioStAthletics and @WinTheDay make history. Today, you decide how it will be remembered. #untouchable pic.twitter.com/gBXPaYq96d— Nike Football (@usnikefootball) January 9, 2015
Obviously, given the message accompanying it and the image itself — at that in its painting, the mural obviously referenced the uniform colors of the Ohio State University and University of Oregon football programs — the piece was clearly meant to hype up last night's first-ever College Football Playoff National Championship Game out in Arlington, which the Buckeyes won convincingly at 42-20.
Less clear was how the piece would end up looking, where exactly it was (inquiries to DPD didn't really bring the clearest of replies) or how long it will stay in place.
Now, courtesy of another pop-up in our timeline — this one courtesy of K104's Rico Slice — we know at least the location (3015 Gulden Lane in Trinity Groves) and also the pretty sweet end result of the piece.
Still unclear at this point, of course, is if this piece has any staying power on its wall. Unfortunately, we've yet to find any concrete information on that regard. But, hey, those old Shepard Fairey pieces are still around out that way, aren't they?
Here's hoping this one last at least a little bit.
