Fort Worth's Podcast Movement Snags Serial Host Sarah Koenig, Aisha Tyler For Annual Conference
It's not exactly the 13th episode of Serial that fans of the overwhelmingly popular podcast have been clamoring for, no, But, earlier today, North Texas fans of Serial got some killer news just the same, as the Podcast Movement conference in Fort Worth announced that it's set to bring Serial host Sarah Koenig to Fort Worth as one of the keynote speakers at this year's conference.
And, turns out, Koenig isn't the only big-name podcaster coming to Fort Worth's Omni Hotel for of the August 1 and 2 conference, either. Other big names set to speak at the second-year conference include Aisha Tyler, Pat Flynn and Lou Mongello — with, naturally, more announcements expected to come soon.
In Podcast Movement's defense, there's plenty of time for those announcements to still come down. Consider it a bonus for you, too, as you've still got a few months to catch up on old episodes of each of these guests' shows. To that end, here's a primer on the conference's thus-far-booked talent.
• Sarah Koenig hosts Serial, which is regarded as the most popular podcast in the world and was the fastest to reach five million downloads and streams in iTunes history. She created Serial with the help of Julie Snyder. Before Serial, the two worked on The American Life for National Public Radio.
• Let's say you're not familiar with Aisha Tyler's comedy podcast, Girl on Guy. Let's say you don't recognize her name, either. You've still likely come across her work in some way. In addition to being a renowned podcaster, Tyler also works as an actress, stand-up comedian and author. She was on Friends!
• This Pat Flynn guy does quite a bit. He's a digital entrepreneur, author, podcaster and blogger. His podcast, the Smart Passive Income Podcast, is a top-ranked business podcast on iTunes with over 11 million downloads to date.
• Lou Mongello has gained a large following for his brand WDW Radio, which focuses on all things Walt Disney World through many media outlets, including audio and video podcasts, a blog, an email newsletter, live events and more. He probably knows more about Mickey Mouse than you do.
Tickets to Podcast Movement go on sale here starting on February 2.
