After Last Night’s Drake Bash, We Feel Good Calling All/Everything The Best New Party In Dallas

Holy shit, did last night’s All Drake Everything party exceed our expectations.

Really: This fifth installment in DJ John Stewart and Blue, The Misfit’s ongoing Sunday night “All/Everything” affairs — in which they and a guest play the music of a single artist (and those existing in the same network) all night long — was something else.

Hosted at RBC in Deep Ellum, last night’s Drake-centric event — following earlier versions that featured the music of Outkast, Jay Z, Pharrell and Kanye West each — was easily the concept’s biggest draw yet. Whether this was a testament to Drake’s popularity or to the weekly — after starting at Crown & Harp, it moved to RBC to accommodate bigger crowds — doesn’t really matter. It was shoulder-to-shoulder packed up in there regardless.

And it was a helluva time, too. For four hours, Stewart and his guest for the night, DJ Christy Ray, kept the house bumping with something for every hot-and-hype Drake fan, playing new and old Drake cuts alike, alongside songs from such affiliated acts as The Weeknd and PartyNextDoor. If you could think of it, you heard it. Vintage MySpace Drake? Check. Emo Aubrey? Check. Robitussin-requiring Six God? Yeah, that too.

The energy filling the venue was too hype to ignore. People were going crazy. Capacity got reached within an hour of the doors opening at 10 p.m. You couldn’t turn your head without feeling like you were an extra in a Young Money video: Asses were shaking, wrists were working and “Drake Hands” were posing.

It’s a neat concept if only because there’s no doubt whatsoever as to what the DJs will spin. Requests are wholly removed from the equation; you know what you’re getting as soon as you walk in the room. Last night, much to the attendees’ delight, that meant more Drake than you’d even hear at a Drake concert.

What’ll you get next Sunday? At the moment, Stewart’s keeping mum. We’re guessing he’ll drop that info to All/Everything’s Facebook page sooner than later, though, so keep an eye out.

For now, just check out Karlo X. Ramos’ photos from the night and slap yourself silly for missing out.
