This Weekend, Hair By Charlie Cuts Your Hair As You Get Your Drink On.

This weekend, you can get more than a drink at Ross Avenue watering hole Three Sheets — like, for instance, a shave or a haircut.

Salon owner Charlie Price of Hair By Charlie is organizing an ongoing monthly pop-up barbershop this weekend at the bar, with a suggested donation of $30 for a haircut or shave. And the money doesn't go to his pocket, either. Instead, the pop-up barbershop will benefit The Boot Campaign, an organization that raises money for active military members and their families as they return home from the war. That organization will be onsite at the bar, too, selling their boots, with 100 percent of their profits going to the cause as well. The idea is that you're taking time out of your day to take a walk in their shoes. Plus, you have some cool new military kicks to sport.

But back to the pop-up barbershop, which is a concept new to Dallas for Price, although he has already tried the concept in other markets, including New York (as part of Fashion Week) and New Orleans.

“There's the [fundraising] story behind it and there's a lot of fun behind it,” Price says of the concept. “I just don't know if Dallas will get it yet. I think it will. New York got it, and when I did it in New Orleans a month ago, it was unbelievable. There were three of us cutting hair then, and we were doing $30 haircuts and we raised just under $8,000. Here, we'll have four chairs.”

The services available in those chairs? Your standard haircut from one of the four barbers set up, plus a “cutthroat-style” straight-blade shave. And don't worry: All four of the barbers and stylists who will be working are highly trained with this tool.

You'll have three chances to stop by this weekend, too. The barbershop will be at Three Sheets tonight from 5 to 10, as well as from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

“I just really don't know what to expect,” Price says with a bit of a shrug and a smile. “It's so different, and I know there's a lot going on this weekend. But I'm really excited.”
