As Expected, The Destination Establishment On Deep Ellum’s Easternmost Edge Went Big As It Celebrated Its 16th Anniversary On Saturday.

The Double Wide threw itself a big ol’ 16th birthday bash this weekend, proving what owner Kim Finch told us last week in advance of the party — that people tend to enjoy themselves a comfortable and unpretentious good time.
Granted, while those ideals are indeed at the forefront of most every booze-fueled night over at this destination on the easternmost edge of Deep Ellum, the ante was upped substantially for Saturday’s parking lot festivities.
Over the course of the night, guests out in the parking lot enjoyed savory delights from the Easy Slider truck, took to the Photo Wagon to pose for saucy and took turns trying not to get bucked of the mechanical bull that was brought in for the night just for that reason. Between shots in the main bar room, meanwhile, they shook their tushies to the sounds of DJs Gabriel Mendoza and Sabrina T. And, over in the performance space across the patio, they straight rocked the fuck out to the ever-entertaining stylings of The Gorehounds, Straight Tequila Night, Atlantis Aquarius, Mike Randall and Jenna Clark.
It was a blast, even if we paid for it in the form of thundering headaches all Sunday long. Fortunately, photographer Karlo X. Ramos was on hand with his camera to take a slew of photos that are helping us piece our memories of the night together in its wake.
As you peep his slideshow at the top of this post, you might also want to consider starting to hydrate in advance of next year’s festivities. That’s our plan, anyway.
