Also Among This Week’s Upcoming Dallas-Area Shows You Should Know: Ra Ra Riot, Chief Keef, Simple Plan, J Balvin And More.

So apparently, Billie Eilish had to cancel an upcoming fashion line after it was revealed that the artist who designed the merch for her plagiarized the work of another artist.

The unidentified visual artist behind this new line of merchandise admitted to stealing the artwork from artist Makoto Kurokawa, leading to the brand behind the project, Siberia Hills, to issue a statement apologizing to both Kurokawa and Eilish.

Touring is hard. Merch sales these days serve as a crucial revenue stream for most artists, and while Eilish is by no means in dire need of money, it still sucks that all that work amounted to nothing. Regardless, buying merch is important, and if you go to any of these freshly-announced shows, you should consider supporting touring artists and simultaneously adding to your wardrobe.

Chief Keef
Tuesday, August 27 at RBC
On sale now.
Not much web presence for this event or for the promoter, but hey, we’ll roll the dice and hype it. We’ll always hype Chief Keef.

PHARMAKON

If you’re a fan of Throbbing Gristle, Merzbow or Torturing Nurse, you’d dig this.

J Balvin
Friday, October 4 at Toyota Music Factory
On sale Friday, August 16 at 10 a.m.
J Balvin has been a big deal in Latin pop circles for quite some time, but the Columbian reggaetron artist’s collaboration with Cardi B and Bad Bunny in “I Like It” earned him a stronger following in the United States. Strong enough to land him a headline tour at Toyota Music Factory, to be exact.

Oliver Tree
Saturday, October 5 at Canton Hall
On sale Friday, August 16 at 10 a.m.
This dude got Thom Yorke’s stamp of approval following his cover of “Karma Police.” Neat.

JEFF the Brotherhood
Friday, October 4 at Dada
On sale now.
Tennessee rock duo JEFF the Brotherhood was seemingly one of the it-bands of the early ‘10s. In 2011, they became one of the most hyped breakout indie acts at SXSW, then inked a deal with Warner Music Group. They would go on to release a live album on Third Man Records, collaborate and tour with Best Coast, tap Dan Auerbach as a producer for 2012’s Hypnotic Nights, and that same year, provide live instrumentation for Jack White’s collaboration with Insane Clown Posse (who we stan, by the way.)

Ra Ra Riot
Tuesday, October 22 at Trees
On sale Friday August, 16 at 10 a.m.
Fresh off a tour with Third Eye Blind and Jimmy Eat World, the Syracuse-based indie rock quintet will hit the road for a headline run in support of its new LP Superbloom, which, unlike the preceding albums, wasn’t released via Barsuk.

On sale Friday, August 6 at 10 a.m.
Screw you, we’re from Texas.

Poppy
Saturday, November 2 at Trees
On sale now.
Poppy’s music career is heavily intersectional with her status as a YouTube celebrity. Her knack for surrealism and her twee, synthetic pop sound have earned the pop musician and concept artist a dedicated following.

Chameleons Vox
Saturday, November 2 at Three Links
On sale now.
Come see Chameleons Vox and Theatre of Hate at Three Links, then go to The Church at Lizard Lounge the day after. You owe it to yourself to have a weekend-long goth experience.

Boy Scouts
Monday, November 4 at Rubber Gloves
On sale now.
As we near its grand re-opening, more Rubber Gloves shows are being announced. One of the most recent of these announcements is Taylor Vick, aka Boy Scouts. In case you still need to be sold on this, she’s on Anti- Records and just toured with Jay Som.

Ximena Sarinana
Tuesday, November 5 at House of Blues Cambridge Room
On sale Friday, August 16 at 10 a.m.
This Mexican pop artist was nominated for a Grammy in 2009 and briefly dated Omar Rodriguez-Lopez of At the Drive-In fame. We know the latter point doesn’t have any bearing on her artistry, but hey, it’s a fun fact.

Simple Plan
Sunday, November 17 at House of Blues
On sale Friday, August 16 at 10 a.m.
The year is 2002. You leave the salon with your frosted tips, and you hit up your friend Brett via your Nokia 3310. You make plans to see that new Spider-Man movie with Tobey Maguire, then afterwards, you go over to FYE and pick up the new Simple Plan album. You play the album in your car to get yourself hyped for the show they’re playing in the area. Life is good.

Ghostemane
Wednesday, November 20 at House of Blues
On sale Friday, August 16 at 10 a.m.
Over the past decade, a subculture that blends hip-hop and hardcore punk/heavy metal has been flourishing with acts such as $UICIDEBOY$, Ho99o9 and City Morgue. Ghostemane is one of the leading figures of this burgeoning subculture, and his upcoming fall tour boasts an impressive Who’s Who of hardcore acts. Unfortunately, we are not part of the leg that includes Harms Way, Candy, 3TEETH and Lil Tracy, but with Jesus Piece, Horus the Astroneer and Parv0 opening, we can’t really complain.

On sale Friday, August 16 at 10 a.m.
Do you like racist puppets that perpetuate negative stereotypes about Muslims and make fun of Mexican accents? Are you a youth group instructor that peaked in high school? Are you a dad that says “Let’s rock and roll,” to your kids upon leaving a restaurant? If you said yes to any of these questions, you should check this out.
