Spinster Records’ Third Annual 214 Day Is A Very Real Holiday — And, Because Fuck Valentine’s Day, It’s The Only Thing We’re Celebrating On February 14.
Flowers wilt. Chocolates get stale. Almost nothing gifted in the name of a phony baloney consumer-driven mock holiday that is Valentine’s Day will last.
Tattoos, on the other hand, are — for all intents and purposes, anyway — forever.
And for the third year in a row on February 14 — which, when written as 2/14, kind of resembles Dallas’ area code (and the city’s favorite QB/RB combo) — Spinster Records is publicly acknowledging that at its annual 214 Day celebration and pop-up shop.
The event, which is going down at the Oak Cliff record shop from 7 p.m. until 11 p.m., will feature local vendors and, once again, a tattoo artist willing to put Dallas and Oak Cliff-themed flash on you for just $25.
Want in on that Triple D ink? Well, it’s a first-come, first-served deal, and you can start lining up for your chance at it beginning at 6:30 p.m.
As for the other vendors and their wares? They’ll include gear from the Oak Cliff-themed clothier El Chuy (whose products you can peep here), beer from Four Corners Brewery and treats from CocoAndre Chocolatier. DJ Teezy will also be on hand to provide tunes, and a flower wall backdrop is being erected for those all-important Instagram stories you know you’ll be posting if you show up.
Or, y’know, whatever. You could just stay at home instead and play assorted chocolate roulette with a heart-shaped box that you pretended not to have sent yourself.
Either way. It’s your call.
