Dallas Probably Has More Record Labels Than You Realize.

That Naysayer Who Told You That Dallas Musicians Had To Leave Town In Order To Sign A Record Deal? They Didn’t Do Their Due Diligence.

One common complaint we hear around these parts that Dallas lacks a proper music industry infrastructure, and that this is in turn what’s keeping area artists from breaking out into huge national stars. Quickly forgetting breakout success stories of such hometown stars as Leon Bridges and Bobby Sessions, these same folks are often quick to announce to anyone who listens that you just can’t quote-unquote make it big here, instead choosing to believe that it’s a given that you’ve got to move somewhere like New York, Los Angeles or Nashville to become famous.

Thing is, there’s plenty of music business going on right here around town if you know where to look — and on pretty much all levels. Enterprising musicians that do even the least amount of networking (asking your friends on Facebook to hook you up with the plug doesn’t count) can find any number of publicists, pressing plants, distributors and booking agents who call Dallas home.

Before getting any of those balls rolling, though, one will have to have some music in their pocket, and perhaps even someone who is interested in helping them release those sounds.

Well, make no mistake, the Dallas-Fort Worth area is home to a few dozen entities that are willing to help local musicians get their music out to the masses, too. By our count, there are currently at least 49 active record labels currently scattered around North Texas. To prove it, we’ve done you the solid of listing them all alphabetically, noting their primary genres and notable acts that have worked with them in the past, and hyper-linked either a website or social media page where you can reach out to them and discuss jump-starting your career.
