There was protein aplenty at Saturday’s Smoked Dallas event at Main Street Garden as more than 15 Texas barbecue joints lined up to provide attendees with samples of their finest cuts of smoked ribs, briskets and sausages.
Among them were locals Lockhart Smokehouse, Hutchins BBQ and Cattleback Barbecue. Also participating? Celebrity chef Dan Fearing, who on top of being one of the featured pit masters, also played live music with his band The Coyotes.
Of course, full-time musicians actually performed too — like Charley Crockett, who is in fact a direct descendant of Texas hero Davy Crockett and who took the stage with his mix of country blues, jazz and soul, and local favorites Vandoliers, who brought some heat in the form of a cow-punk style that was oh-so-fitting for such an occasion.
Feel free to click through the slideshow above to see all the succulence and fun that folks were having under the warm Texas sun this weekend. It’s just like being there, but without any of the meat sweats.
