Rapper GoldLink Didn’t Need A Completely Unique Setting To Thrill His Crowd At Trees On Friday Night. But He Brought Some Plants Along, Anyway.
DMV rapper GoldLink’s had some memorable performances in Dallas over the years, thanks in large part to the fact that he’s been able to perform inside some memorable spaces as part of memorable bills.
In 2015, he performed atop the DJ booth at the It’ll Do on a bill alongside producer Cashmere Cat, and earlier this year, he opened for Little Dragon at the gorgeous Majestic Theatre. But just because the stylish performer took to a perhaps-more traditional venue when he performed at Trees on Friday night didn’t mean his latest Dallas offering was any less thrilling.
Quite the opposite, in fact. Touring in support of his March-released major label debut, At What Cost, GoldLink’s highly anticipated return to town was an exciting, high-energy affair, with the sold-out crowd warmly welcoming the performer back into town with cheers and chants that began even before he took to his stage, which was designed in a fitting manner for the venue, covered in Astroturf and plants.
The rapper was quick to return that southern hospitality, giving fans — including one lucky bastard who was invited on stage because it was his birthday — yet another memorable Dallas offering.
Dude’s kind of got a knack for that at this point.
