Put On For Your City.
Game of Thrones usually comes back this week. This year, as winter has now come, and so they had to shoot in months that looked like winter, we’ve got to wait a few more months for the premiere.
In the meantime, here are 100 GoT memes to hold you over. And below are four more events to keep you distracted for another dragon-less day.
Jeezy at House of Blues
Atlanta rapper Young Jeezy is the one to credit – or, perhaps, blame – for the trap movement that spawned acts like Migos and Rae Sremmurd. So, um, if you fuck with that, let ‘em know he’s putting on for his city tonight in ours.
Uncommon Ramen Featuring Jesse Houston at Top Knot
Known more for his award-winning oyster spot, Mississippi’s Saltine restaurant, Houston is in town whipping up ramen inspired by a trip to Mexico. And if you haven’t made a reservation yet, perhaps the fact that this is the last Uncommon Ramen until June will help persuade you.
Attack on Titan Pt. 1: Guren No Yumiya (Dubbed) at Alamo Drafthouse (Cedars)
To save themselves from human-eating giants, enormous walls were constructed around cities in this dystopian world. Then a millitary operation starts up to fight back against the giant Titan terrors. Sounds like an allegory of our current situation in there somewhere, except this originally came out in 2015. Oh, and part two screens tomorrow night.
Shakespeare in the Bar: The Merry Wives of Windsor at The Ginger Man
In recent years, troupes of drunken actors with clever names like ShakesBEER and Shotspeare have been staging informal productions of the bard’s work in watering holes all over the country. Sacrilige you say? Perhaps not so much. As this Wall Street Journal piece on the phenomenon points out, wine and ale were often consumed all day long in Shakespeare’s day, meaning the original staging of Romeo and Juliet was probably in front of a crowd of drunk folks, too.
