Run The Jewels and Purity Ring Are Headlining The First-Ever Fortress Festival in Fort Worth’s Cultural District.
Last we spoke with Fortress Fest’s organizers, they felt comfortable equating their upstart fest with another first-year Texas fest – Austin’s widely successful Sound on Sound. Now, with today’s lineup announce, the team appears set to deliver on that claim.
Headlining the first edition of the Fort Worth fest is hip-hop duo Run the Jewels and indie darlings Purity Ring, along with support from similar heavy hitters like electronic ace Flying Lotus; a reunited Slowdive, which recently released its first new material in 22 years; Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats; New Order’s Peter Hook, performing with his new band The Light; the delightful indie folk outfit Houndmouth, reunited indie rockers Wolf Parade; Austin’s S U R V I V E, half of which was responsible for the Stranger Things score, and a long list of locals.
In addition to the stellar lineup, Fortress will bring its April 29 and 30 fest to the interesting setting of Fort Worth’s Cultural District, nestled among The Modern and Will Rogers Memorial Center and not far from the Kimbell and Amon Carter museums. Furthermore, fest tickets also include admission to The Modern’s exhibits, which will boast special hours during the fest’s run.
Speaking of tickets, those are currently on sale for $115 including fees right here.
