Miltos Yerolemou, The Actor Behind Game Of Thrones‘ Syrio Forel — The First Sword of Braavos! — Is Coming To Waxahachie Comic Convention WaxaCon To Teach Sword-Fighting Classes.

You can take your weddings (red or purple) and your battles (Blackwater or Bastard). For my money, the best scenes in Game of Thrones all date back to the first season and feature Miltos Yerolemou as Syrio Forel, the First Sword of Braavos, teaching a young Arya Stark how to handle a sword or protecting her from the encroaching Lannister goons.

Those were rad, the kind of scenes you’d like to step into.

And, what a coincidence, turns out you can do just that on November 18 and 19 of 2017, when Yerolemou himself will be stopping by to teach sword classes at Waxahachie’s comic convention, WaxaCon. Sure, it’ll cost a little more if you want to actually participate in those classes instead of just getting in the door. But consider all that you get when you upgrade from a standard single-day entry ($20) to a full VIP Gold Sword Class package ($150): You get free parking, 20 percent off of certain types of merch, the ability to skip lines, access to VIP lounges and bathrooms, an autographed photo of Yerolemou, access to multiple sword-fighting classes taught by the man behind Syrio and you get your own “combat ready” Game of Thrones-inspired hard wood training sword replica, just like the one Syrio used in his last scene on the show when he may or may not have been killed defending Arya, but probably not because he’s obviously the same person as Jaqen H’ghar. Considering how much a ripoff so many of these conventions really are, this isn’t a bad take at all. Especially when you factor in the fact that, while the WaxaCon site doesn’t say this, you’ll also be able to ask Yerolemou all sorts of date-related questions in order to get him to say “Not today!” back to you — like, “Hey Syrio, when did the Founding Fathers sign the Declaration of Independence?” or “Hey Syrio, when will I find love?”

Actually, he might not be able to definitely respond “Not today!” to that latter question, as WaxaCon will also boast an event called Geek Speed Dating.

Anyway, get your tickets to WaxaCon here — today.
