Never heard of Venom? Here’s a convincing bit of trivia: Venom was the first group to coin the loosely defined sub-genre of black metal. Thirty-seven years later, the collective is still on the tour rounds — well, kind of. This version, called Venom Inc, features two original members and a third mid-period member. Still, they keep on scaring parents and inspiring theistic satanism every step of the way, so that’s something. — CC

Supporters of Susan Hawk’s Resignation at MLK Business Center
For the third (fourth?) time during her brief tenure as Dallas’ District Attorney, Susan Hawk is on an indefinite leave to attend rehab. This group wants to figure out a way to get her out of office before August 18, which would allow the citizens of Dallas to elect a new DA in the upcoming election. The fear is that if Hawk resigns after that date, Governor Abbot will get to pick her replacement. — CG
