Scenes From The 11th Annual Texas Frightmare Weekend.
The Texas Fightmare Weekend continues to grow in popularity, and this weekend’s 11th annual gathering was a clear indication things have also gotten a lot better over the years.
Look no farther than the wide range of big name guests the fest pulled this year for evidence. Celebrities in attendance this weekend ranged from horror movie icons such as George A. Romero, Robert “Freddy Krueger” Englund, Kane “Jason Voorhees” Hodder and Alien‘s Lance Henrikson to KISS drummer Peter Criss and actress Rose McGowan. In other words: There was no shortage of wattage.
How big is Texas Frightmare Weekend getting? Big enough to the point that it’s maybe even starting to outgrow its Hyatt Regency locale. The halls were packed all weekend as crowds shuffled through photo ops and vendors to take in various panels and film screenings. It was seriously stuffed to the point of causing mild claustrophobia — which I suppose is fitting for a horror convention.
As cosplay went, it was no easy task keeping track of all the Jasons, Freddys and clowns — a small price to pay to see so many horror movie icons under one roof, I’d say.
Here are some of my favorite snapshots from the convention.
