On The Importance Of Vacation, The Wonders Of Old Game Consoles and How Technology Changes Elections
If you're a listener of KTCK 1310-AM or 96.7-FM, you probably feel like you already know TC Fleming and Jake Kemp well. And if you're not a listener of The Ticket? Well, whatever. You're about to get real familiar with these two just the same through their own channel of this podcast called It's Just Banter. Wanna hear past episodes? In the seven days since we last podcasted, both of our hosts found some time to skip town.
And it turns out vacation life is rich and rewarding! As such, we review our trips to open this week's episode. Me, I think Miami is really great. And Jake? He's come around on wearing a helmet while skiiing. Aside from that, I'll concede that this opening portion of the show is gloriously unfocused as we also jump around and somehow find time to laugh at expense of the Neo Geo, reevaluate the Sega Dreamcast and ask some big questions about butthole bleaching.
Once we get through the break, things settle down some. We both read Jill LePore's article for The New Yorker about how communications technology changes elections, and we dedicate some time to discussing that. Basically, she advances the idea that each big change in communications leads to a brief moment when the parties lose control of things for a bit. We expand on that here and have some general thoughts about how the election is going. We accept, too, that you might be talked out on that topic.
But, if you can, give these takes a try.
