Dallas Beer Kitchen Gets A Reprieve, And Casa Linda's Coffee-Less Mondays Come To An End.
Welcome to The Spread, our weekly feature that aims to share all the area restaurant, food and beverage industry news that's fit to print. Except, this is the Internet, so space isn't a concern. Also: Good thing, because this is Dallas and this town always has breaking restaurant news going down like whoa.
After five years of coffee-less Mondays at their East Dallas location, the folks of Cultivar Coffee are extending their hours with their move across the street to the Goodfriend Package Store. The new hours commence on Saturday, February 13.
“We kind of knew from the beginning that we wanted to find a way to be open on Mondays,” Cultivar co-owner Jonathan Meadows explains. “As time went on, it became one of those things where we were trying to figure out how to be open on Mondays, and also keep the regular customers that we have now. We realized that we would have to, at some point, relocate — that we would kind of grow and become too big for the space that we were in.”
The move across Peavy Road will allow the coffee purveyors to be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. In addition to the new hours, the store will feature an expanded pour over program to better showcase its coffees.
As for the micro-roaster's still-forthcoming Oak Cliff location, an opening is slated for mid to late spring.
Similarly, the days are drawing closer to the opening of Hypnotic Emporium. A recent Facebook post by Hypnotic Donuts confirmed that the sign for its ice cream counterpart is now up, and for fans to “stay tuned” for the opening very soon.
Also worth celebrating is the Lunar New Year, which Wabi House will do by hosting a pop-up kitchen with Monkey King Noodle Co. on Monday, February 8. The theme for the night honors the Year of the Monkey, with an a la carte menu priced at lucky numbers $8, $9 and $11. The event takes place from 5 to 10 p.m, or until they sell out.
Meanwhile, Oak Cliff sweet shop Joy Macarons has plans to open a Greenville Avenue outpost. Per CultureMap's Teresa Gubbins, the new location will be formatted similarly to the original location, but with an increased focus on the signature ice cream sandwiches.
Also in that neighborhood: Not long after Dallas Beer Kitchen announced that it was closing due to financial troubles, the bar and restaurant is getting a second chance. According to GuideLive, the reboot comes courtesy of Nayeb and Pikar (La Guadalupana Meat Market), so more meat items are to be expected on the new menu.
Finally, in craft beer news, Rabbit Hole Brewing is opening its taproom for a Snark Hunt on Saturday, February 6. The day serves as the official debut of the brewery's Season of Delirium Dark Snark brew, and participants can join in on a scavenger hunt. The event takes place from noon to 4 p.m.
