From sweeping our floors to manufacturing our vehicles, robots do pretty much everything for us these days. Now, thanks to some engineers in Kansas City, they're even solving our Rubik's Cubes. Their new puzzle-solving bot can even do the thing in a single second at its fastest.
We'll never manage to top that. We're not totally useless yet, though. At least one thing we've yet to program a robot to do is scouting out the best ways to spend your evening in North Texas, though we're sure one's just around the corner. RBC Underground at RBC
RBC is attempting to bring together the community leading the Dallas Arts Renaissance by hosting weekly themed networking/dance party sessions for people to meet and jam out with. Somehow, Rihanna was the theme they thought would best fit this week. So if you still think Rihanna is good, all manner of locals will be mining her material at this themed-jam event.– Paul Wedding
Dr. Strangelove at The Magnolia
Stanley Kubrick's absurd dark comedy remains sadly timely in 2016 as our leaders continue to get us involved in foreign conflicts that just make things worse. But for a movie that's only slightly more ridiculous than real life and features ones of the bleakest and best movie endings ever, it's still howlingly funny. Remember, gentlemen: You can't fight in here. This is the war room. — Kip Mooney
Sarah Kay at McFarlin Auditorium
Poet Sarah Kay has been performing since she was 14 years old living in New York. Known for her TED talk where she spoke her poem, B (If I Should Have A Daughter), she has been spitting in the face of modern society by actually managing to make a living as a poet and travels around the country speaking her poetry and helping others find inspiration through poetry and story-telling. —PW
Hopped Up Cinema: Django Unchained at Alamo Drafthouse
This go 'round of the Alamo Drafthouse's Hopped Up On Cinema series includes Quentin Tarantino's 2012 action western Django Unchained. The film will be paired with an exclusive firkin brew from Revolver Brewing, which is a fancy way of saying it's a small batch of choice stuff. Bad Magic at Alamo Drafthouse
I don't know how this movie got made, but I am so very glad it did. Bad Magic is the very best kind of shitty direct-to-VHS horror movie that connoisseurs of corny horror will eat up. The movie is centered around the main character summoning a demon by the name of Blahkeeblahkay to exact revenge on the gang that murdered his brother. This movie has deaths caused by voodoo dolls, zombies and even toilet paper. If you don't think that sounds fantastic, we just have nothing in common. — PW
