Take Your Protein Pills, And Put Your Helmet On.

Sick of reading our website on your computer because your iPhone is dead again? Did you know that there are a few ways to charge that sucker faster than usual? Turns out, things like using an iPad charger and putting the thing in airplane mode help speed up the charging process.

While you're stuck waiting to hit 100 percent power, we've got some items for your itinerary worth perusing. In the spirit of helping speed things up, we've picked out only the good stuff. — Cory Graves

Remembering Bowie at Granada Theater
In case you haven't been on Facebook in a few days, you might want to sit down for this: David Bowie passed away on Sunday night following an 18-month battle with cancer. Longtime local Bowie tribute band the Thin White Dukes honors his memory tonight with a career-spanning set of the legend's tunes. A screening of the Bowie-starring classic kiddies flick Labyrinth follows. — CG

Matthew Logan Vasquez, Telegraph Canyon, Daniel Markham at Dan's Silverleaf
His band Delta Spirit may be on break, but frontman Matthew Logan Vasquez can't stop won't stop. In the fall he released a dirty, rock 'n' roll EP that he mostly recorded all the parts himself. It set the tone for the unbridled LP he's got slated for release next month. See another side of the folky tonight out Denton way, where local heavyweights Telegraph Canyon and Daniel Markham open. — CG

Motown: The Musical at Bass Performance Hall
All of your favorite Motown stars, from a young Michael Jackson to Diana Ross to Smokey Robinson, come to life in Motown: The Musical, which is showing at the Bass Hall this week. Probably the best collection of musicians the world has known, so don't miss this unique experience to revisit the 1960's brightest stars. — Diamond Victoria

Ladies Night at Red Pegasus Games and Comics
Since the medium's beginnings, the portrayal of women in comics has been a subject of controversy. Assuming their audiences were primarily male, authors began marginalizing female characters and didn't try to tailor storylines to things they thought girls might be interested in reading in. It's only marginally better these days, though socially conscious shops like Dallas' Red Pegasus are slowly trying to help change that with events like its new, monthly ladies night. Meet at 7 p.m. for drinks, a talk and lots of deals on goods. — CG

Carlos Labbé at The Wild Detectives
Like our own Deep Vellum, the University of Rochester's new Open Letter Books publishing house is one that deals exclusively in translations. Last year, it published Chilean author Carlos Labbé's fourth novel, Loquela, which has been described as “a distorted detective novel, a love story, and a radical statement about narrative art.” Tonight Labbé and Open Letter's Chad Post will be in conversation at The Wild Detectives. — CG

Never Shout Never at House of Blues
Led by 25-year-old Christofer Drew Ingle, Warner Bros.-signed indie rockers Never Shout Never released their sixth album last year. That's one more than Bowie did at that age. Of course, by then he'd already gone through three complete persona changes. If you want to know what Bowie was doing at your age, head here, and if you're interested in catching some Vans Warped Tour vets, head to the House of Blues. — CG
