Hey, The Texas Rangers Are Adding A Left Field Video Board To Globe Life Park!
Despite the Texas Rangers' storybook 2015 season, Texas Monthly reports attendance was way down for the team's games this year, averaging “about 30,000 fans per game, their worst since 2009 and in the bottom half of all teams in Major League Baseball.”
Blame it on the squad's slow start or the fact that the team plays all the way in Arlington, but one of the biggest detractors is also clearly the hot-as-balls Texas summers the Rangers play the bulk of their games in, and the lack of cover at Globe Life Park. And yet, in spite of all those stories that popped up last fall, the team won't likely be relocating to Dallas anytime soon — not with a $200 million development near the park possibly on the way — and adding a retractable roof of any efficacy before the 2016 season is right out of the question.
But, hey, at least one problem with seeing games at the ballpark is being addressed!
Earlier today, the team announced that it is adding a new 34-foot-by-94-foot left field video board that'll make sitting in all those shady Home Run Porch seats way less a pain in the neck. The much-needed board — which you can see an artist rendering of below — should provide video coverage for nearly every fan in the park, long a problem for attendees at Rangers home games.
Y'know, because nobody should ever be deprived of their precious replays. Listen: It's no retractable roof, but we'll take it.
