Johnny Manziel Is Done With The Brown And Wants To Be a Dallas Cowboy. But Is He A Fit?
It looks as though Johnny Manziel, fully fed up with the Cleveland Browns organization at this point, now wants to be a Dallas Cowboy.
On Sunday morning, Manziel was scheduled for an appointment with Browns' team doctors as a check up to a concussion he suffered earlier this season, but he didn't show up and couldn't be reached by phone. Some have speculated that this is all because he was spending his Saturday night in Las Vegas, but Manziel has since sub-Instagrammed these claims with a geo-tagged photo of him in Ohio.
It's all very dramatic — especially now that Manziel has booze.
Yes, Manziel was once an electrifying college football player. Yes, he grabbed a Heisman in 2012. But that success hasn't been replicated at the NFL. He's only started eight games, and he's only put up paltry numbers in those efforts.
So should Dallas take the bait? It's not like the Cowboys had a great year at the quarterback position in their four-win, 2015-2016 season; the team started four different people at the position thanks to Tony Romo breaking his collarbone twice. Still, no. Manziel is a problem child and just another one of the many players who were great at the college level and terrible in the NFL. He only matches the Cowboys on the soap-opera front. He is not an answer to this teams woes. He will almost certainly never help any team win.
There is, however, another formerly amazing Texas college football legend out there for the taking, a guy who is also fed up with his team and who actually has had some success at the pro level. And all you have to do with this guy is avoid running him into the ground.
