While we haven't quite mastered the power thrusters needed to propel a real life TIE fighter at lightning speeds, we could, theoretically, they say, freeze a rebel smuggler in a carbonite tomb. And we'll probably have actual functioning hoverboards before Jedi-powered lightsabers are a real thing.
On the other hand, we've totally mastered the tools necessary to make the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs figure out everything good that's going on in town tonight. — Cory Graves
The Saviours at Three Links
Even though the name is spelled like some type of weirdo Canadian thing, Saviours hails from Oakland, California. The heavy metal band has some skin in the game too. It formed in 2004 and has since released three albums and five EPs. If you're feeling like experiencing godly metal, make your way out to Three Links and witness it tonight. — H. Drew Blackburn
Cavanaugh at Dada
Open Mike Eagle and Serengeti are staples in the indie hip-hop scene, so it was only a matter of time before they linked up and joined forces to create a badass collabo project. Together the two are Cavanaugh and its a laid back cerebral take on the mundanities. Dusty “real hip-hop” heads will love it, but really the only requirement is a taste for dope music. — HDB
Elm Street Tattoo 19th Annual Charity Christmas Party at Curtain Club
There's a few rules if you're looking to celebrate with the Elm Street Tattoo folks during their 18th annual Christmas party, including dressing in fancy attire, bringing an unwrapped toy and $25 for cover. For your trouble you'll get access to live music from Dallas Uber Alles, The Remos, Mat the Cat and Boys Named Sue, casino games, catered food as well as access to the party's open bar. Worth it? Josh Kumler's Br Politics has been gaining the favor of more and more Dallasites each show it has. Though Kumler thought he'd already had the last show of the year, he assumed wrong.
