In 1957, publisher Lawrence Ferlinghetti was arrested for printing Allen Ginsberg's Howl and Other Poems, and charged with disseminating obscene literature, thanks to a line about getting fucked in the ass. Tonight it'll be one of the works read aloud, in public, in a family-friendly coffee shop no less. — CG
Four Year Strong at Gas Monkey Bar N' Grill
Boston's Four Year Strong is a blend of early aughts pop punk with just enough hardcore thrown in to add some real weight to its sound. The band kicked off the summer with a new self-titled LP, it's first in four years, and sixth overall. The guys continue to tour in support of that one with Defeater, Expire and My Iron Lung in tow. — CG

Early '90s punks The Independents are often called Joey Ramone's favorite band and, indeed, the late Ramones frontman managed the horror punk outfit right up until his passing. With the help of openers Black Cat Attack and The Unmarked Graves they'll try to summon up a few ghosts of punk rockers past. — CG
