Erykah Badu Is Starring In A One-Woman Show Next Month, Has No Clue What It'll Be About Yet.

Most people know Erykah Badu as the Queen of Neo-Soul, but her acting resume ain't too shabby, either. In addition to a cameo in one of the most genuinely funny videos to have ever graced the World Wide Web, she's appeared in the criminally underrated Real Husbands of Hollywood, had a starring turn in Cider House Rules and has as of late been guest-starring on the new Amazon series, Hand of God.

Now, it seems that Badu has her eyes set on the theater. That's right: Earlier this month, it was announced that Badu will next put her Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing & Visual Arts degree to work in a one-woman show that will come as a part of Dallas' Black Academy of Arts and Letters' 39th season. She'll perform her show for three straight nights here in her hometown — on October 29, 30 and 31 — and tickets will range from $45 to $100 a seat, per the announcement.

What exactly will Badu do on that stage, though? We don't really know. And, uh, neither does she.

Earlier today, we reached out to Badu in an attempt to get a gauge on what exactly her plans are for this thing, given that there's little to no information available on it elsewhere on the Internet at the moment.

“It's going down,” she told us via text. “Only, I haven't written it yet.”

Maybe she'll do some improv? Actually, she says she might. She describes it as “art in process.”

In other words: Badu is definitely doing a one-woman show, but she definitely has no clue what it's going to be about. That or she's just not telling.

Either way, sounds intriguing. Right?

She thinks so: “One Badu, one stage, a spot light and a microphone. Then we'll just have to got damn see, won't we?”
