Scenes From Thursday's Red Bull Sound Select with Tera Melos, Power Trip and Basecamp.
If you're the kind of person who just just hits “shuffle” when it comes time to listen to some music, then you likely would've enjoyed the hell out of Thursday night's Red Bull Sound Select Showcase at Trees as Nasvhille's BASECAMP, Dallas' own Power Trip and the mostly Sacramento-based (with Dallas ties!) Tera Melos shared the bill.
Because, let's just be real here, that Parade of Flesh-curated lineup was varied as all get out. After BASECAMP kicked the night's proceedings off with its R&B-tinged electro-pop, all hell broke loose (per usual) during Power Trip's proceedings and that high energy level then carried over to Tera Melos' proggy punk offerings.
It was kind of a tough night to make much sense of — although, in the end, that randomness is also what seemed to give the night its many charms for those in attendance. Indeed: Too many shows come off as one-note aesthetically; that was no concern at this one.
Actually, very little was of concern at all on this night. And, in turn, it proved quite the time, as the below photos courtesy of photographer Ben Garrett certainly illustrate well. Check 'em out.
Before you do, though, you should probably RSVP to the next two shows in the RBSS series right now. No, it won't guarantee you get in, but it will guarantee that you're only charged a $3 cover if you do. RSVP to the Gorilla Vs. Bear-curated, Jessy Lanza-headlined gig at Dada on September 17 right here, then RSVP to our own co-curated offering with Fun Fun Fun Fest featuring Neon Indian at the Bomb Factory on October 1 right here.
We'll see you there.
