Hang Loose.
Recently, The Old Farmer's Almanac predicted a cold, snowy winter lays ahead. To be honest, it sounds like a welcome relief from our current triple-digit situation right now.
Of course, it'll be a different story a few months now when we're snowed indoors and events are getting cancelled left and right. And don't think we'll be immune because we're in the South, they're predicting snow and ice even for places that typically don't see any. Meaning? We're pretty much effed.
But that's for another day. Might as well make the best of it, salvage the rest of the summer, and get out and party while you still can. — Cory Graves
Alabama Shakes at Verizon Theatre
These soul and blues rockers are basically a Venn diagram band. The band's got enough grit and roots in its music for the hipsters and enough pop sensibilities for the basics. Check out the band that hails from deep within the Bible Belt with Drive-By Truckers opening. — H. Drew Blackburn
The Devil and Daniel Johnston at Texas Theatre
Presented in true 35 mm is The Devil And Daniel Johnston, a documentation of the profound musical genius of Austin musician Daniel Johnston, and his brief obsession with the Devil. The screening comes in support of Johnston's performance at Club Dada later in the week, of which should undoubtedly captivate crowds new and old. Get a taste of the influence before, perhaps you dig too deep as this one endlessly wins praise throughout. — Evan Henry

Come out and play! — Lauren Rushing
