On Jared Fogle, The Catholic Church, Cecil The Lion and Internet Mob Culture.
If you're a listener of KTCK 1310-AM or 96.7-FM, you probably feel like you already know TC Fleming and Jake Kemp well. And if you're not a listener of The Ticket? Well, whatever. You're about to get real familiar with these two just the same through their own channel of this podcast called It's Just Banter. Wanna hear past episodes? You can check out IJB's archives here and on our Soundcloud page. Wanna subscribe to the podcast on iTunes? Do so here.
I'm just going to tell it to you straight: We get pretty deep into the latest Jared Fogle news in this podcast — and in ways that you might not expect a discussion on the disgraced former Subway spokesman to go. We've got some legitimate questions, though — like, really, how would most people handle things if they only became famous in their 30s after losing a lot of weight? Our guess is not very well.
While we're on the topic of weight, we also discuss how fucked up it is when people ascribe the more negative traits of fatness onto people exclusively due to their weight. Listen, there's depressed skinny people, too, and no one ever blames it on their negative body images. What's up with that? We try talking that out here.
And that's all just the start. We actually hit upon an above-average number of topics in this episode. Among them? The Catholic church, Cecil The Lion and the problem with Internet mob culture.
Also, I do a little extra recapping on this past weekend's Podcast Movement in Fort Worth.
Listen in.
