Sit In Not-So-Quiet Reflection.
Yesterday, famous Hollywood couple Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy released a statement formally announcing their split. Read the tweet from Miss Piggy that broke the news:
Here is the official statement on @KermitTheFrog and moi's relationship termination: pic.twitter.com/0OAdorFV6S— Miss Piggy (@RealMissPiggy) August 4, 2015
And while the pair didn't coin any cool new phrases like “conscious uncoupling” in the process, they did shatter everything we've ever known about love and relationships.
Fortunately, there remains one constant truth we can always rely on: There's always something to do on any given night in Dallas, provided you know where to look. — Cory Graves
Fifth Harmony at Verizon Theatre
Formed during the second season of The X Factor, Fifth Harmony is more than just another reality show girl group: They're a pack of bona fide pop stars that girls and boys alike clamor for. And after selling out the South Side Ballroom back in March, the group moves on to the Verizon Theatre for this one, not that a drive to the suburbs should stop you. We're sure it's quote-unquote worth it. — Lauren Rushing
Knifight at Crown and Harp (Free)
Austin's own Knifight kicks off a Midwest tour by bringing its electronic-heavy, post-industrial offering three hours north to Dallas. Our very own Little Beards and the much-hyped Fort Worth upstart Ill Smiths open this free one. — CG
Caddyshack at Sundown (Free)
This week, Sundown's weekly Whiskey Wednesday movie will be the golf classic Caddyshack. With comedy kings Bill Murray, Rodney Dangerfield and Chevy Chase, this film was the late, great director Harold Ramis' first film. Danny Noonan is a high school kid working as a caddy for an upscale golf club. He sucks up the director of a prestigious scholarship and takes strange advice from a wealthy golf guru. There's also a mischievous gopher out to ruin everyone's day. It's in the hole. — Diamond Victoria
Uncle Lucius at Capital Bar
It's hard enough for most bands to work through all their creative differences — at least enough to so to record a few albums. Austin-based Southern Rockers Uncle Lucius somehow manage the feat with five songwriters in the band. More power to ‘em, we say. — CG
No Touching, Just Friends at Macaroni Island
Emotionally charged California punk outfit Just Friends finds itself in Denton, playing a house show along with locals No Touching and Poison Culture. As usual, bring donations for the touring act and don't be a jerk. — Evan Henry
Brick + Mortar at Dada
Defined by Google simply as a “rock duo,” New Jersey-based Brick + Mortar spends an evening in Dallas in support of Dropped, a new EP focused more on a electronic, poppy, full-of-spunk approach than the band's previously material. We hear the new stuff is largely what the band will be playing tonight. Either way, it should still be a fun, summer-vibed show for the kids. — EH
Stonerz Delight Presents Rage N Rehab at The Prophet Bar
BMBG Music, CRIT Life, Gun Music, Chromat!k, Devy Stonez and The Pyrex Pirates round out a smoke-filled “Rage N Rehab” bill, where tickets are $20. Just remember: God made weed and god doesn't make mistakes. — CG
